Gaon Cable, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System, said on July 28 that it will supply power distribution cables for a power plant project being developed by a major U.S. technology company.
The company will provide distribution cables worth approximately 50 billion won for the project, which involves the construction of a captive power plant by the global technology firm. The facility is intended to secure a stable electricity supply for the company’s artificial intelligence data centers.
Gaon Cable has already secured long-term busduct supply contracts worth more than 5 trillion won with global big tech companies for AI data centers through its U.S. subsidiary, LSCUS. With the latest cable supply deal, the company is expanding its business from data center infrastructure into power generation infrastructure.
The company expects its exports to the United States to reach about 300 billion won this year, roughly three times last year’s level, supported by growing demand for cables used in AI data centers and power plants.
“As AI data centers continue to expand, demand is growing not only for power transmission but also for power distribution,” said Jeong Hyun, CEO of Gaon Cable. “Building on our competitiveness in distribution cables, we will expand our market presence by supplying both cables and power equipment.”
