POSCO Group announced on the 30th that it will implement the energy-saving campaign ‘SAVE Challenge.’ This initiative aims to promote company-wide energy conservation in line with national efforts to address the energy crisis, complementing the existing vehicle restriction policy (limiting car use to five days a week) that has been in place since 2008.
The SAVE Challenge was designed to encourage employees to save energy through daily practices. S stands for using stairs (Step Up), A for using public transportation or walking (Active Transit), V for carpooling (Vehicle Share), and E for energy savings through power shutdowns (Energy Off).
POSCO Group plans to accept participation applications from employees of its 19 group companies starting today and will proceed with the SAVE Challenge from the 6th of next month. Participation can be done through a dedicated mobile application for employees.
To encourage active participation, POSCO Group will provide employees with up to 50,000 Korean won in points per person based on their verified achievements. These points can be exchanged for gift coupons and used accordingly.
Even before the challenge, POSCO Group has consistently practiced energy-saving activities close to daily life, including the vehicle restriction policy, maintaining appropriate indoor temperatures, and turning off lights during lunchtime and after work.
POSCO Group stated, “The SAVE Challenge holds significance as it creates a company-wide platform for all employees to participate together toward the common goal of overcoming the national energy crisis.”
