The Western Australian Government, through Synergy, has signed series of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that will see it purchase renewable electricity from soon-to-be-built wind farms in regional WA.
The proposed Kondinin Wind Farm has signed a seven-year agreement with Synergy for 100 per cent of its energy, marking a key step in securing its future development.

Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Synergy will purchase all electricity generated by Stage 1 of the 130MW project, establishing a fixed-price revenue profile for the initial phase.
The Kondinin Wind Farm is being developed by Kondinin Energy, a partnership between Foresight Group and Shell Energy.
“This agreement demonstrates the WA Government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while supporting new renewable energy projects,” said Amber-Jade Sanderson, WA Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation.
Stage 1 of the wind farm is expected to supply renewable electricity to the South West Interconnected System from late 2028, generating enough power for up to 70,000 homes. The wider 370MW development has the potential for a second-stage expansion.
“Securing a PPA with Synergy marks a significant milestone for Kondinin and moves the project closer to delivery,” said Daniel Beaver, Executive Director at Foresight and Kondinin Director.
PPAs are crucial in the current energy market, providing developers with long-term revenue certainty and enabling access to financing. For WA, the Kondinin Wind Farm adds to the growing pipeline of renewable energy projects supporting the state’s decarbonisation targets.
Foresight has an established presence in WA, including the Mumbida Wind Farm and NewGen Kwinana and Neerabup power stations, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the region’s renewable energy sector.
