Envision Energy has received a Notice to Proceed from Neoen for the turbine supply and installation package of the 179MW Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia, marking a key step in the company’s expansion in the Australian renewable energy market.
The project will use 23 Envision EN182-7.8MW smart wind turbines, each with a 155-metre hub height and a 182-metre rotor diameter. According to the company, they will be the largest wind turbines ever installed in Australia. The turbines are designed to increase energy production while reducing the levelised cost of electricity.
Once operational, the Narrogin Wind Farm is expected to help power nearly 100,000 homes in Western Australia each year and contribute about 3% of the annual electricity demand of the South West Interconnected System.
The project is Envision Energy’s second active wind project in Australia awarded within the past 12 months, following its entry into the Pilbara region with 17 EN182-7.8MW turbines. It will also be Envision Energy’s first grid-connected wind farm for a client in Australia, connecting to Western Power’s existing 220kV transmission line into the South West Interconnected System.
Envision Energy will supply, deliver, install and commission the turbines in partnership with UGL and CPB Contractors, both members of the CIMIC Group. The company has also signed a 30-year operations and maintenance agreement with Neoen to support the project throughout its operating life.
Kane Xu, Senior Vice President and President of International Product Line at Envision Energy, said the project reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Australia and its focus on intelligent energy infrastructure.
Peter Cowling, Head of Wind at Envision Energy Australia, said the Narrogin project would support Australia’s clean energy transition and demonstrate the company’s technology and local delivery capabilities.
Jean-Christophe Cheylus, Neoen’s Regional CEO for Australia Pacific, said Neoen was pleased to work with Envision, UGL and CPB Contractors on its first wind farm on Australia’s west coast. He also acknowledged Synergy, the Government of Western Australia, host landowners, the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation and the wider community for their support.
Envision Energy said the project forms part of its broader Future Energy System strategy, which integrates smart wind turbines, grid-forming battery storage, AI-powered energy management and digital energy platforms to support cleaner, more reliable and more affordable energy.
