GE Vernova has signed an agreement to supply Duke Energy with 11 natural gas turbines manufactured in the United States to meet increasing electricity demands driven by manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and population growth. This partnership builds on Duke Energy’s acquisition of eight 7HA gas turbines, supporting its long-term strategy to enhance energy reliability and manage costs for customers.

The development is in addition to eight 7HA gas turbines the company has already acquired.

Harry Sideris, Duke Energy’s president and CEO, stated: “As we continue to experience unprecedented growth in our service territories, securing the necessary materials to build critical infrastructure and meet the energy demand is integral to delivering value for our customers and other stakeholders.”

The agreement includes the potential deployment of up to 11 7HA gas turbines, aligning with Duke Energy’s resource development plans. These turbines will strengthen energy infrastructure, improve grid stability, and enable efficient management of rising power needs. By utilizing existing transmission systems, Duke Energy aims to reduce costs and accelerate project implementation.

The collaboration is supported by GE Vernova’s expansion of its manufacturing facility in Greenville, South Carolina, part of a $600 million investment in U.S. manufacturing, with nearly $300 million allocated to its Gas Power operations. The upgrades will modernize production processes, replacing traditional methods with lean manufacturing systems to boost efficiency and supplier capacity. This initiative is expected to create over 1,500 new jobs nationwide, fostering a more flexible and scalable production model.

GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik said: “This arrangement with Duke Energy and the significant expansion of our US manufacturing facilities illustrate our ability and commitment to developing innovative solutions that our customers require to meet today and tomorrow’s energy demands.”

The deployment of these turbines will enhance Duke Energy’s ability to address various growth scenarios while leveraging its current infrastructure. The agreement underscores both companies’ commitment to supporting reliable and efficient energy solutions, contributing to the modernization of the U.S. energy sector.
