Orano To Cooperate With Tepco On Fukushima Decommissioning

French nuclear fuel cycle company Orano has signed has signed an agreement with Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) to collaborate on the decommissioning of nuclear facilities at the Fukushima site.
 
Orano said the agreement will cover technical solutions for the design, manufacturing and operation of buildings for nuclear waste recovery and conditioning.
Orano will also provide Tepco teams know-how on the operation of facilities for the treatment, management and storage of radioactive residues.
 
The French company said it has been involved in nuclear fuel cycle activities in Japan for 50 years.
 
Tepco will decommission all 10 nuclear reactor units in the northeastern prefecture of Fukushima, including four at the Fukushima-Daini site and six at the Fukushima-Daiichi site, which was the place of the 2011 accident.
