Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured three projects totalling 184MW in Poland through an auction that was held in December last year.

Under the agreement, SGRE will supply and install 63 wind turbines in three projects for various customers including private investors, as well as national and international utilities.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy onshore chief regions officer Enrique Pedrosa said: “We are very pleased with our current success, in particular, because we have been able to support the bids of a broad range of customers in the projects.

“Siemens Gamesa has established itself as a strong partner for developers and operators in Poland. We will continue to focus on close cooperation and high-quality technical solutions for this market.”

During the 2018 and 2019 auctions, SGRE secured a total of eight wind turbine supply contracts in Poland. These projects will increase the Polish market’s existing installation volume to up to 337MW.

The clean energy generated by the eight projects is said to be enough to meet the needs of 530,000 households in the region.

If the contract is awarded, SGRE will supply its SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines for the 900MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 and the 242MW Gode Wind 3 projects.
