Vestas Expands Polish Blade Factory

02 Dec 2025  by renews
Vestas has launched a major expansion of its blade manufacturing facility in Goleniów, Poland, with the addition of a second production line dedicated to the V172 EnVentus turbine blade.

The upgrade will double the plant's output capacity and create more than 300 new positions. Following Vestas' acquisition of the site from LM Wind Power in September 2025, the factory will employ approximately 700 people once fully operational, raising the company's total workforce in Poland to around 2,300.

Kenneth Kaser, Vestas' head of blade manufacturing, stated: "We are pleased to further strengthen our European manufacturing footprint and workforce to help meet Europe's need for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. We see strong potential in Poland's and neighbouring markets and remain committed to investing in local manufacturing and suppliers to support the region's energy ambitions and creating meaningful jobs in the local community.

The Goleniów expansion complements Vestas' existing nacelle and hub assembly plant in Szczecin, which produces components for the V236-15.0 MW offshore turbine. The investment is expected to stimulate additional construction activity and generate new opportunities for local service providers and component suppliers. Vestas reported spending over €300 million with Polish suppliers in the previous year.

The project forms part of a broader wave of investment in Europe's wind energy supply chain, with industry figures indicating more than €14 billion currently committed to new and expanded manufacturing facilities across the continent. The enhanced capacity at Goleniów will support growing demand for onshore wind solutions in Poland and neighbouring markets while reinforcing the country’s role as a key hub for wind component production.
