Ukraine launched 70 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 414.8 MW in the first half of the year, according to the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association.
According to a recent survey of UWEA members, Ukraine’s wind power project portfolio for 2027-2033 exceeds 10 GW, with future wind farms planned across almost all regions of the country.
According to a recent survey of UWEA members, Ukraine’s wind power project portfolio for 2027-2033 exceeds 10 GW, with future wind farms planned across almost all regions of the country.
The largest capacity additions are expected in 2028 and 2029, when 1,773 MW and 1,972 MW of new wind power capacity are projected to be connected, respectively. Another 1,424 MW of new wind farms are expected to join Ukraine’s power system in 2027.
“The current dynamics confirm the stable development of the wind energy industry and its important role in the restoration and transformation of Ukraine’s energy system,” UWEA said.
The association also noted a new trend: the construction of energy storage systems at wind power plant sites, as well as the development of hybrid power plants combining wind, solar and battery storage.
Ukraine has also completed the creation of a full domestic production cycle for wind turbines and can now independently meet national demand in this equipment segment.
The continued expansion of wind power highlights Ukraine’s effort to build a more decentralized, resilient and renewable energy system while reducing dependence on vulnerable centralized generation assets.
