Fortum and Swedish digital infrastructure provider EcoDataCenter have signed a five-year power supply agreement for delivery of 10 MW capacity and Guarantees of Origin from Fortum’s nearby power plants in Dalälven. The agreement supports EcoDataCenter’s data center in Falun, where CoreWeave, the Essential Cloud for AI™, is establishing advanced compute capacity. The contract term started in January 2026 and runs until the end of 2030. In addition to the power supply agreement, Fortum assumes responsibility for the physical electricity supply and balance responsibility for EcoDataCenter’s operations in Falun.

The agreement ensures that a share of EcoDataCenter’s energy needs in Falun is now tied to local hydropower production. Both Fortum and EcoDataCenter have deep roots in the Dalarna region. Fortum owns, co-owns and operates 39 hydropower plants along the Dalälven river, forming the backbone of the region’s energy system. For EcoDataCenter, the Falun facility is the company’s first facility to be put into operation.
