The terms of transit of electricity from Azerbaijan through Georgia will come into force on January 1, 2027, according to a statement from the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) on LinkedIn.
"As part of the government's official visit to Baku, the general director of GSE, Vano Zardiashvili, and the president of SOCAR [the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic], Rovshan Najaf, signed an agreement on the main terms for providing electricity transmission services. According to the agreement, the parties determined the key terms of electricity transmission, which will come into force on January 1, 2027," GSE said.
It specifies that electricity transit will be carried out from Azerbaijan to Turkey through Georgian territory, and the agreement will be valid for 20 years.
In addition, the document sets the transit tariff for the first three years in advance, which, it is noted, will contribute to improved budgetary and system planning.
