At its CATL Tech Day, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited rolled out the third generation of its Shenxing LFP battery, and the headline number is the kind that makes electric-vehicle skeptics blink twice: six minutes and change for a near-complete charge.

The Shenxing III climbs from 10% to 98% state of charge in 6 minutes 27 seconds, outpacing BYD’s recently launched Blade 2.0 battery.
Internal resistance sits at just 0.25 milliohms — roughly half the industry average — and the pack holds above 90% State of Health after 1,000 fast-charge cycles.
A self-heating pulse system lets the battery reach 98% charge in nine minutes even at minus thirty degrees Celsius, with no special charging hardware required.
