31 Mar 2026  by TotalEnergies
French energy companies TotalEnergies SE and EDF Group (Électricité de France) have signed a partnership agreement for the supply of nuclear energy for a period of 12 years, starting on January 1, 2028. This is reported in the TotalEnergies press release on March 30.

Under the agreement, EDF will supply Total Energies with a portion of the existing production capacity, which will cover about 60% of the electricity needs of Total Energies' refineries and chemical plants in France with a capacity of 400 MW.

Under the deal, Total Energies will make a profit in the nuclear energy sector, while EDF will share the risks and costs associated with production. At the same time, EDF will be solely responsible for the operation of its assets.

From the point of view of the EDF Group management, "the agreement with TotalEnergies guarantees oil refining and chemical industry enterprises access to competitive, independent and low-carbon electricity."
