The company said the project will power the equivalent of up to 14,000 Welsh homes once constructed and help meet national and local renewable energy targets.

Planning consent was granted by Planning Inspectors appointed by Welsh Government Ministers following an application submitted to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales in December 2024, Statkraft added.

The site is located close to the Pembroke Dock-Carmarthen railway line and was selected for its potential to deliver renewable electricity to the grid.

Statkraft engaged with local communities during the development process, holding consultation events in Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Lamphey in Autumn 2023 and further pre-application events in October and November 2024.

The updated plans incorporated changes following community feedback, including measures to enhance local biodiversity.

The project will also include a re-routed public right of way, a new orchard and around 1.4km of new hedgerow planting.

Alleston Solar Farm will provide annual Community Benefit Funding during its 40-year operational period.

Construction of the scheme is expected to begin in 2028.
