Lava Blue and alocell Energy Join Forces to Build a Local Perovskite Photovoltaic Material Supply Chain in Australia

Recently, Australian materials company Lava Blue and photovoltaic company alocell Energy signed a memorandum of cooperation. The two parties will collaborate to develop high-purity materials for perovskite solar cells, aiming to establish a sovereign local supply chain within Australia.

According to the agreement, the two parties will jointly develop specialty chemicals required for perovskite solar modules, which currently rely on imports, are costly, and have limited supply. The goal is to achieve their scalable production locally in Australia, aiming to support the commercial roll-to-roll manufacturing of lightweight, flexible solar modules for applications such as drones, satellites, indoor energy harvesting, and space systems.

Michael McCann, General Manager of Lava Blue, stated that this collaboration aims to leverage Australia's scientific research expertise and local raw material advantages to bridge the gap between lab-grade materials and industrially viable, commercially feasible raw materials.

Paul Moonie, CEO of alocell Energy, emphasized that obtaining cost-appropriate specialized materials is key to achieving scaled production.
