The I-REC system validates the production of 1,000 kWh of electricity from renewable sources, enabling companies to trade certificates globally. This certification supports access to green financing and international markets. Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that over 344,000 I-REC certificates have been issued in the country over the past 18 months, reflecting robust growth in renewable energy adoption.
The ministry highlighted increasing interest in I-REC certification, particularly from textile manufacturers and data centers, signaling expanding engagement across industries. Globally, the I-REC system operates in nearly 60 countries, with over 200 million certificates issued, underscoring its role in advancing renewable energy markets.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Uzbekistan’s solar capacity grew to 2,275 MW by the end of 2024, a significant rise from 475 MW in 2023. This expansion demonstrates the country’s commitment to strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure.
The Texnopark solar plant’s I-REC registration enhances Uzbekistan’s ability to attract investment and participate in global renewable energy markets, supporting sustainable economic growth and energy diversification.
