A decree issued on June 24, 2025, and published on June 25, 2025, sets the new construction deadline to June 30, 2026. Grid connection for these projects must be completed within 18 months after construction concludes. The revised provisions also apply to projects submitted before the decree took effect.
Italy’s energy agency, GSE, awarded 1.5 GW of capacity after evaluating 643 bids totaling 1.7 GW. Notable recipients include European Energy with 270 MW, Solarig with 122 MW, DCH Di Carlo Holding with over 140 MW, Next Energy Capital with 73 MW in Campania, Repower with 62 MW in Sicily, and Photosol with 55 MW. Most projects were proposed by agricultural companies, integrating solar energy with farming activities. All eligible projects received incentives, as the tender did not exceed its capacity limit. Ceiling price discounts ranged from 9.18% to 53%, with larger projects benefiting from cost efficiencies.
The tender established ceiling prices of €0.093/kWh for projects up to 300 kW and €0.085/kWh for larger installations. A MASE representative stated: “This extension supports developers in delivering sustainable energy solutions while ensuring alignment with Italy’s renewable energy goals.” The majority of projects are located in southern Italy, with additional sites in Lazio and Emilia-Romagna, reflecting a balanced regional distribution.
This initiative underscores Italy’s commitment to advancing agrivoltaics, combining renewable energy production with agricultural land use to promote sustainability and economic benefits. The extended timeline aims to ensure successful project completion, contributing to Italy’s clean energy objectives.
