JinkoSolar Achieves World Record Efficiency of 27.02% for Topcon Solar Cell

29 Jun 2025  by pv magazine
JinkoSolar, a leading Chinese solar module manufacturer, has achieved a new world record for n-type TOPCon solar cell efficiency, reaching 27.02%. The result was verified by China’s National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center (NPVM). The record-breaking 182mm n-type cell was developed by JinkoSolar’s subsidiary, Zhejiang JinkoSolar Co.

The company utilized advanced techniques, including laser-assisted metallization, enhanced emitter passivation, and localized absorption passivated contacts, to boost the cell’s efficiency. This marks a significant improvement from October 2022, when the efficiency of the same cell type was 26.1%. JinkoSolar projects that by 2028, its n-type TOPCon cells will surpass 28% efficiency, according to a recent company white paper.

In addition to the cell efficiency milestone, JinkoSolar reported a power conversion efficiency of 25.58% for a TOPCon solar panel, certified by TÜV SÜD. This achievement was driven by innovations such as patterned encapsulation film, super multi-busbar (SMBB) interconnection, and advanced reflective film designs, enhancing the panel’s performance.

On the production front, JinkoSolar is upgrading over 40% of its manufacturing capacity in 2025 to focus on high-efficiency TOPCon technology. The company aims to achieve up to 50 GW of TOPCon module production capacity by the end of 2025. Its latest TOPCon modules can deliver up to 670 W of output, with a mass production module efficiency of 24.8% and a bifaciality factor of up to 85%, enabling effective energy capture from both sides of the panel.

JinkoSolar’s advancements reflect its commitment to improving solar technology and expanding production capabilities to meet growing global demand for efficient, sustainable energy solutions.
