The full-scale commercial launch in Riyadh and Jeddah is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, with a phased expansion to follow. The broader rollout will include major and secondary cities, as well as key roads linking them, enhancing internet accessibility and performance nationwide.
Zain KSA acquired 30 MHz in the 600 MHz band during the Communication, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) spectrum auction held in November 2024. The use of low-band spectrum for 5G-SA deployment is expected to improve network coverage, particularly in less densely populated areas, and support a range of new digital services.
By leveraging this spectrum, Zain KSA is supporting the broader use of advanced digital applications, including HD video calls, cloud-based services, responsive mobile gaming, and Internet of Things (IoT) innovations. The deployment also enables future capabilities such as Voice over New Radio (VoNR), RedCap device support, and Network Slicing, which are critical for tailored connectivity and advanced enterprise solutions.
This initiative strengthens Zain KSA’s position in the 5G ecosystem and contributes to Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation goals under Vision 2030. The introduction of 5G-SA technology is seen as a foundation for innovation, investment, and economic growth in both business and consumer sectors.
