Wuhu Shipyard, a Chinese shipbuilder based in Wuhu, China, announced a research and development (R&D) cooperation agreement with Germany’s Tamm Media to advance green shipping technology and enter the European market. This partnership focuses on promoting sustainable shipbuilding solutions and leveraging international expertise.

The agreement utilizes the expertise of Wuhu Shipyard’s subsidiary, San Dian Shui New Energy Technology, which specializes in alternative propulsion systems, such as electric and hydrogen, and intelligent ship technologies. The collaboration aims to establish strong partnerships with European shipping companies to meet the region’s environmental and operational requirements.

The initiative emphasizes three key areas: joint R&D for green propulsion systems and energy-efficient solutions for Europe’s inland waterways, innovative ship designs optimized for specific waterways and operational needs, and demonstration projects with localized manufacturing and supply chain development, incorporating Europe’s environmental and operational management standards.

Wuhu Shipyard stated: “This strategic collaboration marks a key step to actively integrate into the global green shipping chain and expand the high-end marine network.” The partnership is expected to modernize Europe’s inland fleet, accelerate the adoption of clean energy in waterway transportation, and contribute to the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transformation through innovative Chinese technologies.

This collaboration highlights Wuhu Shipyard’s commitment to sustainable innovation and international cooperation, driving greener maritime solutions worldwide.
