Ventyr Awards Substation Contract for Norway’s First Commercial Offshore Wind Farm

22 Jun 2025  by offshorewind
Ventyr, a consortium formed by Parkwind and Ingka Investments, has selected Worley Rosenberg as the preferred contractor for the offshore substation of the Sørlige Nordsjø II offshore wind farm in Norway. Additionally, Worley Rosenberg signed an early works agreement to begin design engineering for the project.

This marks Worley Rosenberg’s first engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) offshore substation project. Design and engineering work is scheduled to start in June 2025, with an anticipated transition to the EPCI phase in December 2025, aligning with the preferred contractor agreement. The project will be managed from Norway, with support from Worley’s global organization.

Wim Verrept, Project Director at Ventyr, stated: “We are delighted to take the next step in the development of Sørlige Nordsjø II and are very pleased to announce Worley Rosenberg as preferred contractor for the development of the offshore substation on SNII windfarm in Norway, serving the delivery timeline towards 2031.”

In March 2024, Ventyr won Norway’s first offshore wind tender for the Sørlige Nordsjø II project. The wind farm, located in the Southern North Sea, will have a maximum capacity of 1,500 MW and include up to 100 turbines. Recently, Ventyr awarded Norconsult a contract to design and plan the onshore grid infrastructure, further advancing the project’s development.

The Sørlige Nordsjø II wind farm is a significant step in Norway’s renewable energy expansion, contributing to sustainable energy production with a target operational timeline of 2031. The collaboration between Ventyr and Worley Rosenberg underscores a commitment to delivering reliable and efficient offshore wind infrastructure.
