On June 13, 2025, Anji Logistics, the logistics division of SAIC Motor, officially named and delivered its 36th self-operated roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessel, Anji Soundness, constructed by Jinling Shipyard, China Merchants. The ship set sail on its maiden voyage to Europe, becoming the second 9,500-vehicle-capacity ro-ro vessel in Anji’s fleet, following the Anji Ansheng, the world’s largest ro-ro ship.

Anji Soundness, a sister ship to Anji Ansheng, is a next-generation ultra-large post-Panamax car carrier with the highest vehicle loading capacity globally. It features an advanced intelligent ship system, described as a “super brain,” which collects data from over 1,300 monitoring points. This system supports real-time energy efficiency management and seamless integration with shore-based platforms, enhancing operational performance.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Anji Soundness is pre-equipped for methanol fuel, paving the way for future carbon-neutral operations. This reflects Anji Logistics’ focus on advancing green and intelligent maritime transport solutions.

For its inaugural journey, Anji Soundness will visit three key Chinese ports—Shanghai, Lianyungang, and Yantai—to load Chinese-brand passenger vehicles and construction machinery. The vessel will then navigate around the Cape of Good Hope to ensure safety and efficiency, covering approximately 16,000 nautical miles over 40 days. Its destinations include the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

Anji Logistics’ expansion of its ro-ro fleet strengthens its capacity to support the global export of Chinese vehicles and machinery. The company’s investment in cutting-edge technology and sustainable fuel options positions it as a leader in the maritime logistics sector.
