Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) and LS Marine Solution have entered into a preferred supplier agreement (PSA) for the 1GW Haesong offshore wind farm in South Korea, developed by COP on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The agreement designates LS Marine Solution as the preferred supplier for subsea cable installation, covering marine surveys, cable laying and burial, and cable testing.

LS Marine Solution plans to deploy its new cable-laying vessel (CLV) for the Haesong project, located off the west coast of Shinan, Jeonnam. The project comprises two 504MW phases, Haesong 1 and Haesong 3, contributing to South Korea’s renewable energy goals. A representative from LS Marine Solution stated: “LS Marine Solution is committed to leveraging our expertise and advanced equipment, including our new CLV, to ensure the successful execution of the Haesong offshore wind project.”

CIP has a strong presence in South Korea’s offshore wind sector, with projects including the recently operational 96MW Jeonnam 1 offshore wind farm, co-owned with SK Innovation E&S. LS Marine Solution also served as a supplier for this project, demonstrating its experience in the region’s renewable energy initiatives. The collaboration highlights the growing partnership between CIP and LS Marine Solution in advancing clean energy infrastructure.

Additionally, LS Cable & System, the parent company of LS Marine Solution, recently signed preferred supplier agreements for two other CIP projects in South Korea: the Haewoori Offshore Wind 3 project and the 504MW Taenan offshore wind farm. These agreements underscore LS Cable & System’s role in supporting South Korea’s offshore wind development through specialized cable solutions.

The Haesong project aligns with the increasing focus on renewable energy in South Korea, driven by the need for sustainable power sources. The partnership between COP and LS Marine Solution aims to deliver reliable and efficient subsea cable installation, ensuring the project’s timely completion. A CIP spokesperson noted: “Our collaboration with LS Marine Solution for the Haesong project strengthens our commitment to delivering high-quality offshore wind projects in South Korea, contributing to the region’s clean energy transition.”

This agreement enhances South Korea’s offshore wind capabilities, fostering economic growth and environmental sustainability. The Haesong project, alongside CIP’s other initiatives, positions South Korea as a key player in renewable energy development, with LS Marine Solution playing a critical role in infrastructure execution.
