Located in North East Lincolnshire, the Grimsby solar farm will incorporate a single-axis tracking system and landscaping designed to achieve a 71% biodiversity net gain. The project has secured a government-backed Contract for Difference (CfD) through Allocation Round 5, similar to the Kemble and Burtree Lane projects. Early work on a new substation has started, with the main construction phase set to commence soon. The solar farm is expected to be operational by early 2026.
Rabobank is providing senior debt for the Grimsby project, continuing its partnership with Aura Power from the Kemble and Burtree Lane financings. This collaboration supports the company’s efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure in the UK.
Ben Moore, director of Aura Power, stated: “It’s a really exciting time for us at Aura. Having started the company 12 years ago, we are delighted to be building an operations portfolio of over half a GW of solar assets in the UK. We are grateful to our dedicated team and partners who have helped us to develop high quality, buildable projects.”
Jesse Leeuwendal, director at Rabobank, added: “We are proud to continue our partnership with Aura Power as they accelerate the delivery of clean energy infrastructure across the UK. Supporting the financing of the Grimsby solar farm, alongside Kemble and Burtree Lane, reflects our shared commitment to sustainable development and the energy transition. Aura’s strong track record and strategic approach make them a trusted partner in building a greener future.”
The Grimsby solar farm strengthens Aura Power’s contribution to the UK’s renewable energy goals, enhancing local biodiversity and supporting sustainable energy development in North East Lincolnshire.
