IM Motors, a premium electric vehicle brand supported by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang High-Tech, announced on June 2 that its flagship midsize intelligent SUV, the IM LS7, is now available for sale in Mexico. This launch represents a significant step in the company’s global expansion strategy, building on its success in Thailand and establishing Mexico as a key entry point for the Latin American market.

Mexico is recognized as a highly promising market for new energy vehicles (NEVs). By utilizing SAIC Motor’s established global infrastructure and extensive sales network, IM Motors aims to rapidly gain traction in the region’s premium NEV segment. The IM LS7 is a cornerstone of the company’s international efforts, featuring advanced technologies such as a 106-degree panoramic IMAX ultra-wide field of view, an intelligent five-seat layout, zero-gravity seats, and a one-click AI valet driving function.

“The launch of the IM LS7 in Mexico marks a major milestone in our global growth strategy,” said an IM Motors representative. “We are leveraging our innovative technology and SAIC’s robust network to deliver high-quality electric vehicles to customers in Latin America.”

IM Motors is expanding its presence across multiple regions. In mid-April, the company signed a partnership with SMART MOBILITY International (SMI), a key player in the UAE’s NEV sector, to strengthen its foothold in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The UAE will serve as a hub for further expansion into the Middle East, with plans to enter Saudi Arabia by 2025 and cover the entire region by 2026.

In early April, IM Motors entered the Australian market, showcasing the IM6 and IM5—overseas versions of the IM LS6 and IM L6—at the Melbourne Motor Show. These models are set to launch officially in Australia by mid-2025. The company’s global strategy also includes plans to introduce its vehicles in other markets, such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East, using a combination of independent sales channels and SAIC’s existing MG dealer network.

Since its founding in December 2020, IM Motors has focused on delivering high-end electric vehicles with cutting-edge technology. The IM LS7, already popular in other markets, is expected to attract significant interest in Mexico due to its advanced features and competitive positioning in the premium NEV segment.
