Geely Launches Maiden Voyage of First Self-Operated Car Carrier

27 May 2025
On May 22, JISU Logistics, a subsidiary of Geely Automobile, held a naming and maiden voyage ceremony for its first self-operated roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel, JISU FORTUNE, at Haitong Terminal in the Taicang port area of Suzhou Port. The 18,000-tonne ship, designed to carry 7,000 vehicles, set sail with over 5,000 Chinese-made cars destined for the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, and other European markets.

JISU FORTUNE, the first RoRo vessel owned by JISU Logistics, measures 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in width, featuring 12 decks. It can transport both internal combustion engine and lithium battery vehicles, with four adjustable decks to accommodate various vehicle sizes. The 11th and 12th decks are specifically designed for new energy vehicles powered by hydrogen or natural gas. The ship operates primarily on liquefied natural gas (LNG), supported by two 2,000-cubic-meter C-type LNG storage tanks, reducing nitrogen and sulfur oxide emissions. This eco-friendly design enhances fuel efficiency and aligns with Geely’s commitment to sustainable logistics.

Geely, a key partner of Taicang Port, has a history of exporting vehicles from regions like Wuhan and Zhejiang through this port to Europe and the Middle East. JISU Logistics manages a robust logistics network covering pre-production, production, and post-production stages, both domestically and internationally. The launch of JISU FORTUNE strengthens Geely’s global logistics capabilities, supporting its growing overseas market presence.

In April 2025, Geely exported 24,133 vehicles, contributing to a total of 114,086 units exported from January to April. The introduction of JISU FORTUNE is expected to further enhance Geely’s international sales by improving the efficiency of vehicle exports to key markets. This milestone reflects the company’s focus on expanding its global reach while prioritizing environmentally responsible practices in its logistics operations.
