The installation process began in early April 2025, with Orsted completing the placement of 24 foundations in just over a month. Offshore construction for both the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farms started in February 2025. The foundations for Greater Changhua 2b were installed using a heavy-lift vessel operated by Heerema Marine Contractors.
The suction bucket jacket foundations utilize a technology that eliminates the need for piling, enabling secure anchoring to the seabed. Orsted highlighted that this method significantly reduces noise impact on marine ecosystems, promoting environmentally responsible construction practices. The company noted: “We’ll continue to make the most of the favorable weather windows and push forward with full momentum!”
Progress on the Greater Changhua 4 offshore wind farm’s foundation installation is also underway, with Orsted maintaining its commitment to efficient and sustainable development. The completion of the Greater Changhua 2b foundations underscores Taiwan’s growing role in offshore wind energy and Orsted’s dedication to delivering reliable, clean power solutions.
