On May 16, 2025, Changan Automobile officially launched its Rayong plant in Thailand and celebrated a global production milestone of 28.59 million vehicles. The event marks a key moment in the company’s international expansion and reflects its growing commitment to Southeast Asia.

Construction of the Rayong plant began on November 8, 2023, and has been completed in less than two years. Built with a total investment of approximately THB 10 billion, the facility currently has an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, with plans to increase that figure to 200,000 units in the future.

Designed with a focus on environmental sustainability and digital innovation, the Rayong plant incorporates a range of advanced technologies. These include photovoltaic power generation, rainwater collection systems, recycled airflow, virtual simulation, and a fully digitalized operating platform. These features aim to reduce energy use per vehicle and enhance overall production efficiency.

The plant will manufacture vehicles under the Changan, DEEPAL, and AVATR brands. As Changan Automobile’s first full-scale vehicle production base outside China, the Rayong facility integrates over four decades of manufacturing expertise with localized management practices. It is also positioned as a model for future global expansion, offering a standardized framework for the company's upcoming overseas plants.

In addition to manufacturing, the facility plays a role in developing global talent. It has been used to train international professionals and is expected to support further localization efforts across the region.

Looking forward, Changan Automobile plans to introduce 12 new energy vehicle (NEV) models to Southeast Asia within the next three years. The company also plans to establish a parts warehouse in Rayong, which will serve as a global distribution hub for right-hand-drive spare parts.

To complement these efforts, Changan will enhance its digital service platform in Thailand by integrating artificial intelligence features. These will include intelligent vehicle control, remote diagnostics, smart maintenance scheduling, and battery status monitoring.

Southeast Asia continues to be a central focus in Changan Automobile's global strategy. The company has significantly expanded its presence in the region through localized operations and product offerings. In the Thai market alone, Changan has introduced seven vehicle models, including the DEEPAL S07 and AVATR 11.

With the opening of the Rayong plant and continued product rollout, Changan Automobile aims to strengthen its position in Southeast Asia while contributing to the growth of clean and intelligent mobility solutions worldwide.
