Capable of delivering 100 MW for four hours, the park can power over 48,000 households, enhancing grid stability by storing renewable energy from wind and solar sources. Engie prioritizes flexibility, renewables, and customer solutions in Belgium, aiming to optimize clean energy use and ensure a reliable supply.
Vincent Verbeke, chief executive of Engie Belgium, said: “It is with great pride that we are launching today, in the presence of Energy Minister Mathieu Bihet, the construction of this battery park in Kallo, Engie’s second major park in Belgium. With this large-scale project, we are strengthening Belgium’s strategic position at the heart of the European energy market. Through our focus on flexible energy production and consumption, we want to get the most out of renewable sources and make energy more sustainable, reliable and affordable for our customers.”
Engie’s second major storage project in Belgium, the Kallo park strengthens the country’s role in Europe’s energy transition. It will create jobs and support local suppliers, while NHOA Energy’s technology ensures high performance. The project aligns with global sustainability efforts, reducing emissions and promoting affordable, eco-friendly energy solutions.
