Wind Multiplikator secured the contract for servicing and maintaining the farm’s 80 Areva M5000 turbines, marking the first time an independent service provider has taken on this role, previously handled by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Wind Multiplikator brings expertise in Areva technology, already servicing a significant number of similar turbines. The rotor blade repair and restoration contract was awarded to Buss Energy Group.
Both contracts, effective from January 1, 2026, will run for 10 years, building on the wind farm’s first decade of operation. Commercial managing director David Baureis stated: “With this decision, we are setting the course for the safe and reliable operation of our turbines for the coming decade. Both partners prevailed in an intensive and structured tender process against strong competition.”
Technical managing director Felix Prechtel added: “With Wind Multiplikator and Buss Energy Group, we have found two experienced and dependable partners who fully meet our requirements for quality, innovation, and safety standards. We look forward to collaborating in a long-term partnership.” The selection of these partners underscores Global Tech I’s commitment to ensuring long-term operational reliability and quality.
The tender process, launched in February 2024, attracted numerous applicants across Europe. After a rigorous pre-qualification phase, multiple bidding rounds culminated in decisions based on Best and Final Offers, evaluated using technical, economic, and qualitative criteria. This thorough process ensured the selection of partners capable of maintaining the wind farm’s high standards.
The contracts with Wind Multiplikator and Buss Energy Group reflect the growing role of specialized service providers in the offshore wind sector. By engaging experienced firms, Global Tech I aims to enhance the efficiency and durability of its turbines, supporting the consistent delivery of clean energy.
This milestone strengthens the operational framework of the Global Tech I wind farm, reinforcing its contribution to Germany’s renewable energy goals. The long-term partnerships established through these contracts will ensure the facility continues to provide reliable, sustainable power for the next decade.
