Wedoany.com Report-May 6, Dong Fang Offshore has commissioned a third service operation vessel from Vard, a shipbuilding company, to support offshore wind farm operations in Taiwan. The vessel, upon completion, will begin a 15-year service contract for an undisclosed wind farm project in the region.

The service operation vessel is based on Dong Fang Offshore’s customized Vard 4 39 design, tailored to address the specific challenges of offshore operations in Taiwan’s marine environment. This order follows two similar vessels commissioned from Vard in 2024, both set to serve long-term contracts with clients in Taiwan upon delivery.

Polin Chen, chief executive of Dong Fang Offshore, stated: “We are delighted to return to Vard for the construction of the third SOV in our series of high-performing SOVs for the Taiwanese market, continuing the strong teamwork and momentum together with the team in Vard Vung Tau. The vessel design has been developed to specifically address the many unique challenges operating offshore Taiwan, and it is humbling to see another customer place their trust in DFO to deliver long-term O&M services, on a solution that we have developed together with Vard.”

Chen further noted: “This order marks the third O&M service contract for an SOV that DFO has been awarded in Taiwan, continuing the DFO strategy of building ships against high-quality contracts with long-term, forward-thinking customers, and cementing DFO’s place as the O&M service provider of choice within Taiwan.”

The construction of this third vessel reinforces Dong Fang Offshore’s commitment to providing specialized operations and maintenance services for Taiwan’s growing offshore wind sector. By collaborating with Vard, the company ensures that the vessel’s design meets the operational demands of the region, enhancing reliability and efficiency for its clients.

This order strengthens Dong Fang Offshore’s position as a leading service provider in Taiwan’s offshore wind industry, building on its ongoing partnership with Vard and its focus on securing long-term, high-quality contracts. The vessel’s development aligns with the increasing demand for sustainable energy infrastructure in Taiwan, supporting the region’s renewable energy goals.
