On April 16, 2025, SAIC Motor and Huawei introduced a new vehicle brand, SAIC (known as "Shangjie" in Chinese Pinyin), at the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) product launch event in China. Developed through Huawei’s Smart Selection model, SAIC targets mainstream consumers, integrating advanced technology and user-centric design within HIMA’s ecosystem.

The collaboration between SAIC Motor and Huawei spans the entire development process, including product planning, design, intelligent cockpit systems, smart driving technologies, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales services. This partnership aims to advance intelligent vehicle technologies and explore innovative business models. “Our joint efforts with Huawei enable us to deliver cutting-edge mobility solutions that enhance the driving experience for consumers,” said a representative from SAIC Motor.

SAIC Motor, with 70 years of automotive expertise and a customer base approaching 100 million, is committing significant resources to the SAIC brand. A dedicated team of over 5,000 professionals collaborates with Huawei engineers to ensure excellence in development, operations, and technical delivery. “This partnership leverages our combined strengths to create a brand that resonates with modern consumers,” said a Huawei spokesperson.

The SAIC brand is built on four core principles: style, technology, trust, and inclusivity. Its minimalist yet elegant design offers a modern aesthetic, while Huawei’s smart mobility solutions provide a seamless and intelligent driving experience. Prioritizing safety and reliability, SAIC aims to deliver high-quality, stylish vehicles that cater to diverse consumer needs. The brand seeks to make advanced mobility accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience.

As one of China’s leading automotive groups, SAIC Motor operates across vehicle manufacturing, parts production, mobility services, finance, international trade, and advanced technology. It has developed seven globally competitive platforms, including pure electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered vehicle architectures, alongside advanced battery, electric drive, hybrid powertrain, and intelligent vehicle systems.

Huawei, a global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart devices, brings expertise in software, hardware, chips, and cloud services. Its capabilities in intelligent driving, smart cockpits, and software-defined vehicles enhance the SAIC brand’s technological offerings. “We are committed to creating a superior mobility experience through innovative solutions,” said a Huawei representative.

The launch of SAIC marks a significant step in the collaboration between SAIC Motor and Huawei, combining automotive heritage with technological innovation to meet the evolving demands of the global mobility market.
