The leadership teams of BW ESS and Sungrow at the groundbreaking ceremony.
BW ESS and Sungrow have commenced commercial operations of the Bramley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in southern England, a 100MW/331MWh project. Sungrow supplied the battery units for the project, including its 3-hour duration PowerTitan 2.0, which has also been supplied to other developers for projects such as Fidra Energy's Thorpe Marsh BESS and West Burton C BESS. This is not the first time Sungrow and BW ESS have worked together, as they were also part of a supply agreement for the Hams Hall energy storage project in England. The CEO of BW ESS described this as a landmark moment for their UK rollout and a notable project in the context of the UK's energy transition. Sungrow conducted the world's largest real-world fire test of BESS units before developing this project. Last autumn, BW ESS merged with UK firm Penso Power, with a combined pipeline of around 5GW spread across the UK, Sweden, and Australia.
