Poland Reaches 17 GW of Installed Photovoltaic Energy

07 Apr 2024  by evwind

Poland’s installed PV capacity will reach 17.05 GW by the end of 2023, according to a new report from the Instytut Energetyki Odnawialnej (IEO).

By the end of 2022, the country’s installed solar PV capacity had reached 12.4 GW, meaning new PV additions reached 4.6 GW last year.

Solar is currently the country’s first renewable energy source, ahead of wind energy, with 9.4 GW, biomass, with 982 MW, hydroelectricity, with 979 MW, and biogas, with only 294 MW.

However, most of the country’s electricity demand continues to be met by coal.

The Polish PV market is expected to grow strongly in the current decade to reach 30 GW of installed capacity by the end of 2030, according to the IEO.
