GameChange Solar (GCS), a supplier of solar tracking solutions for ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) plants, announced its expansion to 35 GW of annual U.S. domestic manufacturing capacity for key components, up from 24 GW in 2023.

The company says this will enable it to incorporate more than 85% domestic content for its Genius Trackers upon customer request, with a 70% standard.

As a result of increasing domestic manufacturing capacity, GCS says it offers multi-year capacity commitments. GCS has a network of over 30 manufacturing locations across 16 states, which it says helps ensure customers qualify for Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) domestic content requirements.

GameChange Solar’s U.S. manufacturing capacity for tracker parts includes torque tubes, posts, controllers, module mounting equipment such as purlins and SpeedClamps, bearings, stamped parts, and other essential solar tracker components.

Late last year, U.S. Department of Treasury issued new guidance on the Section 45X advanced manufacturing production tax credit that passed as part of 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The Treasury proposed regulations to implement the credit, intending to incentivize the production of eligible components within the United States. Qualifying materials include solar and wind energy components, inverters, some battery parts, and applicable critical minerals.

The proposed regulations would affect eligible taxpayers who produce and sell such components and intend to claim the benefit of an advanced manufacturing production credit- including by making elective payments or credit transfer elections.
