Greece’s Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy and Water (RAAEY) has awarded permits for the construction of more than 240 MW of wind and solar parks across several regions of the country.

The licenses authorise the installation of 132.6 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and 108 MW of wind turbine generation plants, the regulator announced on Tuesday.

Greek renewable power producer Terna Energy (ATH:TENERGY) has received the green light to build two solar parks in the Delphi municipality of Fokidas regional unit with capacities of 17.6 MW and 20 MW, respectively. The PV third project that received clearance calls for the construction of a 96-MW PV complex by North Solar 1 in the Larissa unit of northern Greece’s Thessaly region.

In the wind energy field, RAAEY has given the thumbs up to a 81-MW project in Alexandroupoli, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region. The scheme was put forward by Energy Vorsana UAE.

An additional 21 MW of wind turbine capacity will be added in the Boeotia region of Central Greece by special purpose vehicle Enerkoplan Energy and Investments. Axia Monoprosopi IKE, meanwhile, has been authorised to build a 6-MW wind power plant in the Thesprotia unit of Greece’s Epirus region.
