The Danish wind turbine maker this weekend announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the conditions for the future development, saying the project will create the largest wind turbine complex in Ukraine.
The proposed scheme will be the second phase of the 114-MW Tyligulska wind farm that was switched on in May in southern Ukraine. Phase two of the project is planned to use 64 of Vestas’ 6-MW turbines. Once the additional capacity is installed, the entire complex will have 83 units of the V162-6.2 MW machines.
"The Tyligulska wind farm will significantly increase the stability of our energy system, help strengthen the country's energy security, and enable Ukraine to become a decarbonisation leader that can act as an energy hub for Europe,” said DTEK’s CEO Maxim Timchenko.
Plans for Tyligulska’s second phase were initially unveiled back in 2021 but were put on hold following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Vestas said it will will make further disclosures if and when the contract with DTEK translates into a firm and unconditional order.
