Sener's Ambitious Green Hydrogen Project in Spain Attracts €100M Investment

06 Sep 2023  by energynews
Sener, the renowned Basque engineering company, is propelling its green hydrogen project in the Villalonquéjar industrial estate, aimed at supplying green hydrogen to the Burgos industry, with a significant boost.

The company has successfully secured a collaboration agreement with Argentina Corporación América, a conglomerate founded by the nonagenarian billionaire businessman Eduardo Eurnekián, to invest over €100 million in these groundbreaking facilities.

This forthcoming production plant, projected to commence operations in 2027, will mark the entry of the South American multinational into Spanish territory. Their intention is clear: establish a significant presence in Spain, leveraging the advanced European market’s expertise in green hydrogen technology, compared to the Latin American landscape. The site, already secured earlier this summer, occupies the grounds of the former Cirtubo in Villalonquéjar.

Sener’s momentum reached a crucial juncture this summer as they submitted an application for integrated environmental authorization to the Junta de Castilla y León. This pivotal step paves the way for the project’s realization in the coming months. However, specific details regarding the project’s groundbreaking remain undisclosed.
