Raven Renewables, a Surrey-based renewable energy company, is set to install solar panels and a battery storage unit for Haslewey Community Centre.

Raven will work with the registered charity to install 62 solar panels across four roofs. This will generate 23,000kWh in energy per year, approximately one third of the electricity of the building’s demand.

The firm has also secured a £45,000 in funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy, which covers three quarters of the client’s installation costs.

Mark Gardiner, business development manager at Raven Renewables, said: “We’re excited about getting these renewable energy measures underway for the Haslewey Community Centre team; it will make a dramatic difference to their running costs, and of course reduce their reliance on costly and less sustainable energy sources.

“Every partnership we enter into with charities and social housing providers is another step forward in reducing and eventually eliminating carbon emissions from buildings, alongside huge reductions in energy bills for clients and the opportunity to use those savings to provide improved services that benefit communities.”

Kevin Morris, chair of Haslewey Community Centre, said of the project: “We have been delighted with the service and support we have had from Raven Renewables. Choosing them for our installation was simple, not just for the help they have provided but based on the ethos behind their company.”

Raven Renewables was founded by Raven Housing Association and manages the design, installation and maintenance of renewable technologies including solar photovoltaic panels, air and ground source heat pumps and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

The firm previously secured deals last year with both Property Experts and Sparta Homes Ltd, with plans to install solar panels on a three-storey building and at new builds in Berkshire, respectively.
