Mingyang's First 12 MW Wind Turbine up Offshore China, Fish-Farming Jacket Ready for Installation

In June, Mingyang Smart Energy completed the installation of the first MySE 12-242 wind turbine at the Mingyang Qingzhou 4 offshore wind farm in the South China Sea. Now, the developer has also completed the production of the “world’s first jacket+net cage” system for fish farming, the MyAC-JS05.
The 500 MW Mingyang Qingzhou 4 project, located off the coast of Yangjiang in Guangdong Province, will feature 25 MingYang’s MySE 11-230 and 18 MySE 12-242 offshore wind turbines. The units will be installed on fixed foundations, with Mingyang also set to deliver one floating turbine for the project.

The MyAC-JS05 is a typhoon-resistant aquaculture system built to withstand Class-17 typhoons with wind speeds of up to 61.2 m/s. This should ensure a safe farming environment for 15,000 groupers in deepwater.

With an estimated annual fish production of 75 tonnes, the project has the potential to generate an additional 5 million RMB (about EUR 632,050), said Mingyang.

The system will have remote functions such as automated feeding, monitoring, detection, and collection, according to Mingyang.

Later this month, Mingyang Smart Energy said that the company will install the pilot system for the MySE 12-242 offshore wind turbine.

Once completed by the end of 2023, Qingzhou 4 will supply 1.8 billion kWh of clean electricity per year, reducing 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to its developer.
