Tesla’s Cybertruck to Feature a Stalk-Less Rectangular Steering Wheel

30 May 2023  by thedriven
Tesla is getting closer to the production of the Cybertruck with images of testing and media appearances becoming more frequent.

Most of these focus on the angular design lines of the outer steel body. But now a new image has appeared of the interior of the truck that reveals a huge screen and no stalks behind a more rectangular steering wheel.

The photos appeared on Twitter by a user YYDS who appears to have been at one of Tesla’s recent shareholders meeting event. This is further verified by the view through the front windscreen where Model Y vehicles and a Tesla Semi is spotted in the distance:

The interior shot shows a new steering design which is a cross between the steering wheel of a Model 3 and Model Y along with the yoke offered on the refreshed Model S and Model X. The latter two models will not be coming to Australian shores as revealed by Tesla earlier this month.

Behind the rectangular steering wheel, there don’t appear to be any stalks like those found in the current generation of the Model 3 and Model Y.

The indicator switch is now located on this new steering assembly which will simplify the number of parts Tesla needs to attach to the Cybertruck.

The large centre screen appears bigger than the 15-inch display found in the Model 3 and ModelY.

It could possibly be the same 17-inch horizontal screen found in the new Model S and Model X vehicles.

Behind the large screen, the dash of the truck appears to be covered in a fabric like material found in various of Tesla’s models.

Reports from earlier this year suggest that the upcoming Model 3 refresh is also expected to use a similar material on the dash along with the removal of the wood trim sections.

There is also a centre console with a slider storage section as well as an armrest for comfort while driving the high-riding truck.

More will be revealed in the coming months with an expected first delivery event of the highly anticipated yet polarising Tesla Cybertruck later in Q3.
