Masdar to develop over 2GW solar, wind projects in Uzbekistan

Abu Dhabi-based Masdar signed a joint development agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade to set up over two gigawatts of solar and wind capacities.

In a statement, Masdar said the agreement also includes the development of 500 megawatt (MW)-hours of battery energy storage in the Central Asian nation.

Masdar entered the Uzbekistan market in 2019 with the 100MW Nur Navoi Solar Project which has been operational since 2021.

Its portfolio in the Central Asian country includes the 500MW Zarafshan plant, the largest wind farm in the region.
