Fairwind Wins Pre-assembly Contract for Vattenfall’s Danish Offshore Wind Pair

17 May 2023  by offshorewind
FairWind has been awarded a turnkey pre-assembly contract for the Vesterhav Nord and Syd offshore wind farms at the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark.
Under the contract, FairWind will be responsible for the pre-assembly erection of 41 Siemens Gamesa’s SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines. Each direct drive (DD) wind turbine will have a power generating capacity of 8.4 MW.

FairWind will start work this month and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023, according to the company.

Bladt Industries completed the manufacturing of 41 transition pieces (TP) for the Vesterhav project in April under a contract signed with Vattenfall in 2021. Each TP has a height of 22.5 metres and weighs approximately 260 tonnes.

The monopiles, which will be installed by DEME Group and its jack-up vessel Innovation, are produced by EEW in Rostock, Germany.

The Vesterhav Nord & Syd offshore wind farms are being built some 10 kilometres off the west coast of Jutland near Thyborøn (Nord) and Søndervig (Syd).

With a combined capacity of 344 MW, the project will produce enough electricity to supply 350,000 Danish homes in total.
