The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) recently gave DNO Norge consent to use the Island Constructor vessel for light well intervention work on the Trym field.

The 2008-built Island Constructor multi-purpose offshore vessel is of Ulstein SX 121 design. It can accommodate 90 people. The vessel received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in April 2010.

Located in the southern part of the Norwegian sector in the North Sea, three kilometres from the border to the Danish sector, the Trym field lies in a water depth of 65 metres. It was discovered in 1990, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 2010.

The field has been developed with a subsea template including two horizontal production wells, tied to the Harald facility in the Danish sector and the production from the field started in 2011.

This consent comes only days after the PSA gave a similar one to Norske Shell for the Island Constructor vessel to carry out well intervention on the Knarr and Gaupe fields.
