Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) has received a conditional order to supply turbines for the 376-MW Formosa II offshore wind project in Taiwanese waters.

The firm order will depend on whether the project developers, a consortium of Macquarie Capital Limited and Swancor Renewable Energy Co, will take the final investment decision (FID), the wind turbine maker said Monday.

The wind farm will be located off the coast of Miaoli County in western Taiwan. Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for supplying 47 units of the SG8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbine model. The order includes a 20-year full-service agreement.

Offshore works are expected to begin in 2020.

Formosa II will be located near the site of the 128-MW Formosa I wind farm, whose Phase II is currently under construction and for which Siemens Gamesa also supplied the equipment.
