The SG 11.0-200 DD is the latest Siemens Gamesa offshore turbine to enter serial manufacturing, and the MoU could see United Power deploying the technology in Chinese waters.

Marc Becker, CEO of the offshore business unit at Siemens Gamesa, heralded the two companies’ common cause, while Zhang Guangjun, chairman of United Power, said the company looked “forward to reaching a strong partnership with Siemens Gamesa”.

Globally, more than 1,400 Siemens Gamesa offshore direct drive turbines have been installed. In China alone, Siemens Gamesa offshore technologies have supported more than 6GW of offshore installations.

Siemens Gamesa has previously licensed other offshore models to Shanghai Electric for the Chinese market.
