TGP Transporting Chinese Turbine Components to Vietnam

04 Feb 2021  by Nadja Skopljak

Trans Global Projects (TGP) has secured a contract to transport approximately 320,000 freight tons of wind turbine components for two offshore wind projects in Vietnam.

As part of the almost year-long contract, TGP will deliver ten batches of turbine equipment from China to Vietnam via ocean vessel.

The names of the wind farms have not been disclosed, however, TGP said it is carrying out the activities for a large EPC contractor in China.

Work has already begun, and since September, the company has delivered 12 sets of turbine equipment from three different locations across China to Vietnam’s port of Ho Chi Minh.

The scope includes loading, shipping, providing customs clearance and discharging 57 sets of 3 MW turbines, each of which includes towers, blades, hubs, nacelles and generators.

“Shipment of a wind turbine’s oversized components – the blades, towers and nacelles – requires heavy lifting expertise and meticulous transport planning,” said Colin Charnock, TGP CEO.

“We look forward to continuing to utilise our knowledge in the end-to-end handling of breakbulk cargo to meet the needs of a sector that’s expected to expand significantly in the coming years.”
