China's Investment in Countries Along the Belt and Road Increased by 24.9%

According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce of China, from January to November 2020, China's foreign non-financial direct investment was 659.36 billion yuan (US$95.08 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%. The newly signed contract value of foreign contracted projects was 138.282 billion yuan (equivalent to 199.4 billion US dollars), down 3.7% year-on-year; the completed turnover was 834.96 billion yuan (equivalent to 120.4 billion US dollars), down 10.2% year-on-year. 255,000 laborers of various types were dispatched for foreign labor service cooperation, and 635,000 laborers of various types were abroad at the end of November.

Statistics show that from January to November, China’s non-financial direct investment in countries along the “Belt and Road” reached US$15.96 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.9%, accounting for 16.8% of the total in the same period, an increase of 3.9 percentage points from the previous year. The contract value of newly signed projects in the countries along the route was US$114.38 billion, and the completed turnover was US$70.87 billion, accounting for 57.4% and 58.9% of the total over the same period.
