As of 8:00 on December 14th, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company has produced a total of 3,001,600 million cubic meters of gas in the Sichuan Basin this year, which is equivalent to producing 24 million tons of crude oil, becoming another country with an annual gas output of more than 30 billion cubic meters after the Changqing Oilfield. According to statistics, the number of gas wells drilled by Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company this year, new annual production capacity, and average daily gas production have all set a record. In recent years, the natural gas production of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field has entered the fast lane. Looking back on the exploration and development history of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company, China’s first 10 billion gas zone was built in 2004, which lasted 46 years; the output exceeded 20 billion in 2017, which took 13 years; and the 30 billion gas zone was built in 2020, which took only 3 years.

According to the company's plan, it is estimated that by 2025, the natural gas output of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field will reach 50 billion cubic meters and 80 billion cubic meters in 2030, and China's largest modern natural gas industrial base will be built.
