German company Notus Energy has signed an agreement with the Odessa regional government of Ukraine to develop three wind farms with a total capacity of about 300MW.

Notus acquired the rights to the wind farms in April 2019 and is responsible for the structured financing, technical planning, construction and operation of the turbines.

The projects are located in the district of Ovidiopol, around 30km west of the Ukrainian Black Sea metropolis of Odessa.

The wind farms will be built near the municipality of Libental (120MW) and on the outskirts of the villages of Roksolany and Ovidiopol (180MW).

The project plans include 50 high-yield wind turbines with a total height of up to 250
metres.

Notus Authorised signatory Hannes Otto said: “We are confident that the central goverament in Kiev will end the current discussions about the amount and duration of the feed-in tariffs soon with a positive result for the renewable energy sector.

“We want to lay the first foundations before the end of 2022.”

Odessa governor Maksym Kutsyy said: “The joint declaration between Notus and Ukraine is intended to continue to ensure trustful cooperation in partnership in the development of green energy around Odessa.

“To this end, regular exchanges between the regional administration and Notus are planned during the coming project phases.”
